DENISE B. of Valley Stream, New York
“I can study on my own time and this gives me the opportunity to be at home with my family rather than leave home a few nights a week to sit in a classroom.”
Denise is a typical American mom. In addition to having a full-time job, this New Yorker is raising three kids, their menagerie of house pets, AND is going to college full-time! A student in the Associate of Science Accounting Degree program, Denise has found that the convenience of distance education with Penn Foster College fits into her lifestyle and responsibilities. “I can study on my own time and this gives me the opportunity to be at home with my family rather than leave home a few nights a week to sit in a classroom.”
The at-home convenience is not the only aspect of a Penn Foster College education that she appreciates. “My instructors are always only a phone call away, no need to make an appointment. All my materials are sent to me in a timely fashion, no running to campus bookstores. I can take my tests and get my grades immediately...”
Denise feels that the most important factor of her education is the impression it is having on her children. She states: “In these hard times, which we are all facing, the fees are very affordable and it includes EVERYTHING I need to be successful. I feel good about myself because I can express to my children the importance of furthering their education beyond high school without sounding hypocritical, because I am a college student myself.”
Test results have become a family affair. When Denise takes her tests and does well (she is maintaining a 90+ average) she loudly yells “yoo hoo” so they all can hear and know she got a good grade. Is there any better example than that?
Good luck with the rest of the program, Denise.
KIMBERLY D. of Warren, Michigan
“Enrolling in Penn Foster has allowed me the opportunity to go after my dream and fulfill this very rewarding passion of working with children.”
Becoming a mother herself made Kimberly realize how important quality day care is for parents who must work outside the home. She has a degree in Marketing and is working toward her second degree, this time in Early Childhood Education with Penn Foster College. She hopes to open her own child-care center, someday. Because she has a full-time job and a child, Kimberly realized how difficult it would be to take college courses again. “Because I was a full-time employee and a full-time parent, it was very hard for me to consider enrolling in college, again, full-time to obtain a degree that would allow me to start my own child-care business. That was until I discovered Penn Foster.” The convenience of learning at home has helped Kimberly balance work, valued time with her son, and her personal life. And she is fulfilling her promise to herself...to start her own business in a career she loves. “Enrolling in Penn Foster has allowed me the opportunity to go after my dream and fulfill this very rewarding passion of working with children.”
We wish Kimberly much success. |
