RAY C. of Hattiesburg, MS
“Since being enrolled at Penn Foster, I’ve been able to be more dedicated to my career and future goals.”
“Since being enrolled at Penn Foster, I’ve been able to be more dedicated to my career and future goals. I’m currently enrolled in the Paralegal Studies Program and just about complete with my first semester. I’ve learned a great deal. I’ve been able to confidently engage in conversation with lawyers and paralegals in my area. I’ve even decided to run for a City Council seat in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The Paralegal Studies Program helps me with the legal jargon used in the everyday life of a councilman. I’m also currently employed at the local county jail and am able to help some of the inmates and officers explain their legal paperwork and procedures. I was even able to transfer credit hours from previous college courses. I’m able to study at my own pace and freewill giving me the opportunity to work, spend time with family, campaign, and pursue my educational goals all at the same time. I don’t think I’d be able to manage it all if it wasn’t for this program. Thank you.”

PHIL M. of Deming, NM
“I look forward to continuing my studies and finally earning that long-awaited degree.”
“When life hands out lemons, I like to make lemonade. When I was laid-off from my job (after investing three years with the program), I decided that now was the time to finish what I’d put off for so long. I’d always found one reason or another to delay working on continuing my education. In the past, I’d been able to rely on experience alone to prove my worth, but with a changing economy I felt that might not be enough in the future. So after a few weeks off to catch up on some much needed rest, I enrolled in Penn Foster’s Computer Information Systems Associate Degree Program. I am currently just a few tests and projects away from the first semester final exam and holding a 95% average!
Partially inspired by my coursework, partially frustrated with the economic situation that we face, I recently decided to start my own business, “Cyber Existence.” Now this isn’t my first time venturing into self-employment, about 10 years ago my wife and I ran a successful office equipment service company. I feel more prepared as I enter into this business, and encouraged that what I’m learning today directly relates to skills that I will depend on in the very near future. I look forward to continuing my studies and finally earning that long-awaited degree.”

Last Minute Chance for a College Education.
Donna Gannon saw the ad about an essay contest and realized that the deadline for applying was just hours away. Donna filled out an application and wrote an essay about how an online education would help her achieve her goals. Due to her last-minute effort, Donna is one of the recipients of a full-ride scholarship from Penn Foster — through eLearners.com, a Web site that connects students with online educational institutions. Donna’s goal is to graduate in June 2010 — the same time her son will graduate from high school. Read more about Donna in an article in The Adobe Press. |
