In honor of Veterans Day, Penn Foster recognizes our students who are serving our country and their families for their commitment, courage, and sacrifice. This issue of Penn Foster News is dedicated to them. Originally known as Armistice Day, Veterans Day is the international holiday which commemorates the ending of World War I in 1918. Veterans Day is also called Remembrance Day and Poppy Day in other parts of the world.

JENNIFER K. of Hampton, VA
“Just knowing how much more I can accomplish with my degree is so motivating (not to mention the pay raise once I become licensed!).”
“My name is Jennifer, and I am in the Penn Foster College Veterinary Technician Program. I married my husband in December 2005, when he joined the United States Coast Guard. At the time, I was a manager at McDonald’s and wasn’t too happy with where my career life was going. We were transferred 500 miles from our families, and I knew it was time to buckle down and start something for myself.” Read more...

SHANNON J. of Panama City Beach, FL
“Since this is a distance learning college, I will be able to continue my studies overseas when my husband and I move to Italy in 2010. I think this is one of the best decisions I have ever made for my future and that of my family. ”
“I was so excited to come across this program. I am a busy mother of a three-year-old daughter named Maya and a one-year-old son named Kyle, a proud wife of a United States Air Force sergeant, who is away for a year on duty in South Korea, as well as a family child care provider for the United States Air Force. I am going to use my Early Childhood Education degree toward national accreditation and to further my career.” Read more...
SGT. DONALD P. of Elmira Heights, NY
“Penn Foster is the perfect situation for deployed soldiers. There is not a lot of pressure like other schools put on you.”
“I am currently a student taking the Business Management Associate Degree Program. I was born in Elmira, NY. After high school graduation, I enlisted in the USMC. I spent three years at 8th & I marine barracks in Washington D.C. I then spent one year in Okinawa, Japan. Nice place, by the way. I spent two further years in the inactive reserve for the Corps. I moved to Ocean Springs, Mississippi, about 60 days before Hurricane Katrina demolished the area I lived in.” Read more...
